m partners, has been organising DataFest, an annual celebration of data that has so far transformed from a Kampala edition (DataFest Kampala) to an African regional edition (DataFest Africa). DataFest Africa continues to bring together data enthusiasts, Civil Society Organisations, Government, private sector and more to discuss trends on data across the continent. The biggest so far, the 3rd edition of DataFest (now DataFest Africa) held under the theme: "Data Futures: Big Data, Little Data, and Everything in Between'' was a hybrid event that attracted a wide range of participants and stakeholders. The month-long edition started on June 10th to July 17th. We welcomed a total of 716 participants from 3 countries, a steady increase in our community, which has more than tripled since our first ever edition in 2019. This report is a reflection of key outcomes, numbers and impact of the 2022 edition of DataFest Africa." (Introduction)

d its long-awaited media policy. In Tanzania, the assumption of the presidency by Samia Sulu Hassan, raised hope for improved relations between the media and the government following a sharp deterioration during the late John Magufuli’s tenure. A change of government in Zambia also brought optimism that the media environment would improve in that country. Despite these improvements, there is need for MISA to remain vigilant, as the media environment in Southern Africa can be very unpredictable and vulnerable to shock developments. The COVID-19 pandemic provided ample illustration on how vulnerable the rights to freedom of the media and freedom of expression are in the region as a number of countries enacted legislation that infringed on these rights." fangreicher Nutzungszahlen und zahlreicher Studien zur Akzeptanz und Wirkung in der Zielgruppe zeigt sie sowohl Erfolge als auch Potentiale in den Zielmärkten auf. (Vorwort, Seite 9)

Our grants support a strong and thriving sector where community broadcasters are embedded in and a reflection of the diverse communities they represent and serve. This includes First Nations, ethnic and print disabled Australians, as well as those in our communities who are underrepresented in other media. This year we granted more than $20.5 million to help 278 organisations communicate, connect and share knowledge with their communities through radio, television and digital media." (Page 3)
